Why I Refuse to Eat Today

I'm staging a hunger strike until the snail community gets proper representation in the terrarium council. My new pink sweater gives me strength (and makes me look fabulous while protesting).

My Sweater Makes Me Feel Powerful

Wore my new argyle sweater to the annual reptile convention. The other snakes were impressed, especially when I demonstrated how it doesn't restrict my movement during dramatic escapes.

Deep Lore

The Sacred Sweaters of Ancient Egypt

Contrary to popular belief, the pyramids were not built by humans but by highly organized snake labor forces. Archaeologists have discovered hieroglyphs depicting cobras in intricate sweaters directing construction projects.

The famous Sphinx was originally designed to have a snake body, but due to budget constraints and sweater shortages, they had to improvise with a lion's body.

Medieval Snake Fashion

During the Middle Ages, snakes were considered fashion icons. The term "snake charmer" actually referred to tailors who specialized in creating tiny garments for serpents.

Many royal courts employed "Serpent Stylists" to ensure the nobility's pet snakes were always dressed in the latest European knits. The Bayeux Tapestry originally included a panel showing William the Conqueror's snake wearing a Norman-style sweater, but it was lost to history.

The Industrial Revolution

With the advent of knitting machines, snake sweaters became more accessible to the masses. This led to the famous "Great Shedding of 1843" where thousands of snakes simultaneously outgrew their sweaters, causing temporary shortages in the wool market.

Charles Darwin originally included a chapter on sweater evolution in snakes in "On the Origin of Species," but his editor convinced him it was "too controversial" for Victorian audiences.
